A game in which the purpose is to collect and train small monsters called Pokê©mon through battle. Pokê©mon is Japanese for Pocket Monsters.

Released for the GameBoy Color, the story line of these two games takes place after the story line of Red, Blue and Yellow. The game takes place in a different world named Johto, and provides 251 Pokê©mon for players to find and catch. Pokê©mon can be traded with the Red, Blue and Yellow versions by the use of a link cable. Gold and Silver were also the first Pokê©mon games to offer breeding.

These were the first two games to come out. You play as a beginning Pokê©mon trainer. The objective of the game is to try and catch all 150 Pokê©mon in the game. You also are attempting to become the greatest trainer of all time.

The Yellow version is a combination of both Red and Blue, and is based loosely on the Anime cartoon show. The main change is that you have a Pikachu follow you around.

Leaf Green and Fire Red are remakes of the original Red and Blue for the Game Boy. This version features the original 151 Pokê©mon with enhanced graphics and gameplay, such as double battling. These versions are further enhanced by the National Pokê©dex, allowing you to catch a staggering 386 Pokê©mon.

Pokê©mon Crystal is a slightly different game to the Gold and Silver versions. New features include extra Pokê©mon animations, Pokê©mon in different locations and a sub-plot about one of the game's legendary Pokê©mon.

Released for the GameBoy Advance, these Pokê©mon games take place in a completely new world. 200 Pokê©mon are available to find and catch - this includes a selection of Pokê©mon from the older versions, and a selection of new Pokê©mon. The aim of the player is to collect all of the Pokê©mon, and to become the Pokê©mon champion. Players can trade their Pokê©mon between Ruby and Sapphire versions only by the use of a link cable.

Pokê©mon Emerald is a remake of Ruby and Sapphire. It follows the story of Sapphire with the Pokê©mon exclusive to it. It features a new area, the Battle Frontier. Many of the improvements in Leaf Green and Fire Red are found here as well. They also make some minor improvements to the breeding system.
